Two opportunities to protect against Caterpillar. - Nov 10, 2008
Unlike other stocks, falling since the beginning of the year, Caterpillar (CAT) kept its growing trend line till June 2008. As a company gets 60% revenue outside of North America stocks had been profiting from declining US dollar. But the currency turnover and worries about global economies sent Caterpillar shares down by 50% in just two month.Picture above shows monthly price chart. There are 3 peaks where always new high is higher than previous. At the same time RSI alre...

Beaten airlines - Ready to bounce? - Nov 08, 2008
Airline industry has been one of the most beaten in last year. AMEX Airline Index (XAL) is down more than 50% in last months and but on July it had been even almost 70% down. What is interesting is that recent low has been formed on July. Compared to other industries where recent lows have been reached during October after heavy sell-off. Earlier turnover is due to declining crude oil and gasoline prices which are down more that 50% since July peak.Bad news about global ec...

Outlook for Gold Bugs Index (.HUI) - Oct 30, 2008
Last time we profiled the Monthly HUI index, we pointed out the bullish pennant that was forming. Unfortunately, it has broken to the downside. No buy signal was generated as a result. For a buy signal to be generated the Pennant would have to brake to the upside. Even then a stop loss should be used for protection in case the upside breakout fail. The HUI index has gone down sharply and is testing the lows of 2004 and 2005. These lows may hold up but that remains to be se...
How to invest in gold. Outlook for gold price. - Oct 28, 2008
Gold is seen as a kind of hedging and especially in last year it has been safe investment in credit market meltdown. Many traders expected gold price easily to cross above $1000 with ongoing financial turmoil. But the trend goes down now. Major impact has sharply strengthening US dollar. As you can see on the picture below the price again testing declining support line. And where the gold is heading now? This is the video technical analysis published by Adam Hewisons. If yo...
Stock markets rebound with bullish divergence. - Oct 28, 2008
The picture above shows 6 months chart of S&P 500 (SPX). Buying appetite is pushing indexes up. There are not positive news on street today. Consumer confidence worst in decades. But this market is just simply oversold and bargain hunters are choosing this Tuesday for picking up undervalued stock. At the chart you can see interesting pattern in S&P. Very strong bullish divergence with RSI. Similar picture can be seen also with Dow or Nasdaq.http://stockweb.blogspot...
The state of the market - Asian ETFs. - Oct 27, 2008

Today let me show you state of Asian ETFs.Major laggard is South Korea (EWY) with -69% followed by China (FXI), (PGJ), (GXC) India (INP) and Asia Pacific (PUA) with more than 60% down. As you can see at the picture here it is even worse than in Europe and it is broad based.Among "leaders" mostly Japanese exchange traded funds are listed. J...
